Hey Hillary & Sam; Can you explain more in detail what exactly are the club presentations? I don't know why, but I must've totally missed this at the first meeting. Here are some of my questions: 1. What exactly are they for? 2. What should they be about? 3. Do you need a VGA cable to connect the computer to the projector? Thanks

Well basically, presentations are just like having someone lead the discussion at a certain meeting. You don't have to do one if you don't want to; it's entirely optional.
Discussions can really range in topics. You can address such and such a theme and pick some manga that have that theme as a major part of the work. You can do genre, and try to string together the similarities and differences between a few manga of that genre.
If you want to focus on a manga-ka and choose works by him/her, that's cool too. With that, you can compare stories, styles, techniques. You could even compare two manga-ka.
Presentations basically give everyone a chance to be introduced to new manga and new perspectives about manga. I don't think you guys want to hear me talk for all of Fall quarter about manga. Variety is the spice of life after all.
I understand that a lot of people might be confused about this right now. Next meeting we're going to cover presentations and give a general idea about how to do them. All Sam and I would like from you is to get in your head what you would like to talk about if you plan on being a discussion leader. Then after you have that, pick two or three manga that are an example of this. That's what we need you to do for the next meeting.
Is the VGA cable what we were missing last meeting? If so, then I would really appreciate it if you brought one just in case. <3
